    Imagine the flier promoting the program: “Raise just $5,000 for Mike’s re-election and you too can become a deputy sheriff and carry a badge. Raise $10,000 and you get a uniform also. And for a mere $25,000 you get the badge, uniform and concealed weapon permit!”

    I wonder how the real deputies fell about this.
