I think one of the only reasons that a lot of people go to Doheny is for the volleyball courts. You’ll notice a huge difference in the sand on the courts compared to the normal sand. It is also somewhat unique for a state beach with the amount of grass nearby, instead of rocks, that makes for good picnicing. Personally, not my favorite beach, but it probably does have its purposes.

Addendum: I just looked at the Google maps image with the satellite photo and you can actually tell where the volleyball courts are because of the differences in the sand. Weird.

You wanna talk crappy beaches? When I lived at Lake Dianne Apartments in Santa Ana, we had the CRAPPIEST beach! It was on the shore of a man-made lake the size of my living room and the surfing was dreadful – though there was the occasional moron out there with a fishing pole (I kid you not!).

    … What can I say? It’s been a while since I last posted…
