Hurricane Katrina Blog for Relief

Give.gifToday, there are many bloggers who are encouraging their readers to donate to the Red Cross and other charities to help the people still trapped in New Orleans. Katrina’s death toll will be horrendous, and an entire city has been abandoned. These people need our help, and that help is most useful if it comes in the form of money right now.

If you would like to find other places besides the Red Cross to donate to, there is the Charity Navigator to help you find the right charity for you. Also, Wil Wheaton will be holding four charity poker tournaments at PokerStars, if you feel like giving that way.

Also, I would like to pass this email on that I received through one of my Civil Air Patrol mailing lists:

State OES has learned that trapped victims on the Gulf Coast are calling family, friends, loved-ones, or anyone they can get a call out to in California asking for someone to rescue them. These requests need to go immediately to the US Coast Guard’s Rescue Line at 800-323-7233 and immediate assistance will be sent.

Finally, if you haven’t already, go and check out Metroblogging New Orleans. They have done a great job blogging their experiences leading up to and through this disaster.

Great job, Grant! Thought I’d drop a note and say that you can make online donations throug the Red Cross website. It’s easy to use and lightening your wallet can sometimes lighten your heart. ;)

Thanks for getting the word out!
