No matter your views on George W, the fact remains that after his term is over we can’t elect him again. So the question is who can we put our faith in to lead our country back to the top? The answer comes in 2 words:

I urge all americans to stand by him in his campaign and help america become great again.

OK….I can’t be sure how much he can really HELP……but I bet he’d be a bit more intimidating than past presidents…..and his speeches would be a bit less painful to watch…..maybe?…..hopefully???

This weekend I was goofing around on Main St. in Huntington Beach. There is everything you want to do all in this one area shopping, food, movies, and the beach. It hit me this weekend why do I go anywhere else. I usually like to walk down and grab a bite to eat at one of the many bars and swing by Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory for one of their caramel candy covered apples that I split with my girl on the walk home. At this point in my life I don’t think there is any place I would rather be than in Huntington Beach and working in Orange County.

Just like the El Toro Airport, forces are at work to kill another urban project that will force the OC in to a dangerous crunch in the next 15 years. The NIMBY’s have taken to the hills and have started their frontal assault on the proposed Tri-Tunnel connecting Riverside to the OC and a possible new airport.

In today’s San Francisco Chronicle, the paper mentioned that we are thinking of the unthinkable, an 11 mile tunnel that will run through the heart of earthquake country. The proposed tunnel would start a mile from a fault line that has produced a 6.0 earthquake in the past.

While we continue to veto every single project in this county that would provide its residents with some form of comfort in this ever growing county, no one has proposed any project that will ease the issue. We built the toll roads to ease the traffic crunch, but those have quickly become a boondoggle, we proposed the CenterLine light rail project which would have created quick access to the Universities and key sites in the OC but that was quickly killed, and finally the kicker was the fight against the El Toro Airport and the selection of a Great Park instead.

Does anyone want to come forward with a good idea?

Atheists!

This month’s Orange County Atheists meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2005 at 7:15 PM at BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse in Irvine, located at 13130 Jamboree Road in the Irvine Marketplace. It’s just up the road from the Red Robin we’ve met at several times, right off the 5 and 261 freeways, and not far at all from the 22 and 55.

If you consider yourself an atheist, an agnostic, a freethinker, a humanist, or are just curious, check out this month’s event. we always welcome new members, will give you a name tag, and want to hear what you have to say! More info is available at the Orange County Atheists website.

I’m sure most people are tired of hearing about our recently election. I know I am, for the most part.

The thing is, when you look at the results, you find out something startling (or maybe not so startling) about our County. Here’s the thing: While the state of California voted NO on all of the propositions on our recent ballot, there were quite a few propositions that Orange County voters were fond enough of to cast a YES vote.

That’s right.

Contrary to the rest of the state (as a whole). So, what does this say about Orange County? Is this yet another sign that we are living within “the Orange Curtain”?
