Beat the gas price blues!

ibikedbuttonI needed to fill up the ol’ Hyundai today, and got a spot at the “cheap” station near my house – and paid $3.399/gallon for the privilege. It shouldn’t ever take $48 to fill a Hyundai. Ever.

What can we do about it? For starters, it’s Bike to Work Week! California Bicycle Commute has information, as does the OCTA. They’ll even give you prizes if you commit to riding at least one day this week.

I’m a prime candidate to ride to work (I bought my house 1.5 miles from my office), but I hate the idea of spending the first 20 or so minutes here in sweatiness. I’m sure my coworkers would hate it, too. But I might see about doing it Friday – you should too!

You don’t have to get sweaty. I ride about a mile to Fullerton Station and then hop on a bus to UCI every morning, and it’s no big deal if you take it easy. You only sweat if you’re running late.

I have the same sweaty concerns! Especially since appropriate dress is a big issue where I work. I live fairly close, but I don’t fancy the idea of riding my bike thru the Anaheim Resort. I am still toying with the idea. Maybe I should try and map out a safer route that steers clear of Harbor Blvd.

You forgot the link to Google Transit, which works great in Orange County.
