The Hidden Features…

Much like looking for the hidden mickeys at Disneyland, our new redesign has some wicked awesome features (and I don’t always use those terms in my vocabulary)! For those of you who have an iPhone you’re in for a treat! When you visit the OC Metroblog (and this goes for all of the cities in the Metroblog Network) you’ll get a site that is formatted specifically for the iPhone. This means you will not get all of the ads, the flash will be removed, and only the posts will be displayed with the ability to add a comment or see trackbacks. The iPhone version also allows you to send the post to Digg, Del.icio.us, and Technorati. By having an iPhone version of this site the pages will load faster over (slow) EDGE network). While I would like to see an option to choose which version I see on my browser, the fact that the site is formatted for mobile Safari rocks! As for the back-end, I won’t be giving away the “farm” so to speak. It has been simplified and will make for quicker reporting, I mean blogging.

I love the iPhone formatting plug-in for WordPress. I use it on my own site. It definitely makes the loading quicker, even over EDGE.

Without giving away the farm, do you use Ecto or Mars-Edit (on the Mac) to upload? Both are great clients. I recommend them. I use Ecto mainly, but have used both in the past.

    I’m not sure.

For some reason the iphone plug-in isn’t working today. Sean and the team at Metroblogging are still working out the kinks in the new system.

For some reason it didn’t find the page from the post update I was emailed, but when I went to oc.metblogs.com everything was formatted fine. Probably just minor code glitches.
