What In The Deck The Halls Was That?

The wife and I just got home about 20 minutes ago. As we unloaded the car I heard the train, and when I turned to look (yes I live close enough to see the trains from my apt), I saw a train (Metrolink? Freight? I didn’t know) decked out in Christmas lights playing Christmas music!! I’m sorry I have no pics to share, but it caught me off guard, so I couldn’t snap a pic.

30 seconds of research pointed me to the Metrolink website. They are doing a “Holiday Toy Express” toy drive. They bring the train to different Metrolink stations around the southland. Kids can meet Santa, see the “more than 50,000 lights” and see a free show too! Sounds pretty neat to me! Unfortunately you Central and South County-ers (I refuse to call Orange central county, even thought the Register does) missed the bus train. Tonight they hit up the Tustin, Irvine, Laguna/Mission and San Juan stations. Good news for us NoCo’s though is they’ll hit up Anaheim, Orange, Santa Ana and Fullerton Saturday Dec. 20! You can view the entire schedule here.

Oh! And did I mention it’s FREEEEEEEEE!!!! (But I suggest you donate a toy…….cause it’s just nice to do so)

But Orange is central county. Especially since Newport is South. That leaves you Costa Mesa, Santa Ana, Tustin, and Orange as Central, and then Anaheim, Placentia, Brea, Yorba Linda as North… ;) (and yes I know I’m not saying all the cities, but those are the ones that are in a line from South to North.

The way i see it, Orange barely goes further south than Anaheim does, so they’re pretty equal. Plus i justreally don’t want to be lumped in with Irvine :-p

Well see that’s why Irvine is South county, and that solves everything. Does Anaheim ever reach the 22, since Orange does that makes it Central. :)

Well is Irvine is SoCo, then I’m OK with the Central thing. 22 fwy. Touche’ Dan! You win this round. ;-)

    Dave,

If you look at those election day maps, you may change your stance on Irvine. Aside from Laguna, Irvine is one of the only places that voted for the Dems and voted no on Prop 8 in the entire county.

    Just sayin’…

Wow! OK Dan and Jon. Between the 2 of you, I’ve officially changed my stance on Irvine. If not for the Prop 8 thing alone.

I’m surprised not more people have heard of this – it was pretty well publicized last year (and not to mention, reported in the local rag quite a bit), even though I nearly forgot about it as this year’s holiday season rolled around. it may have even existed prior to last year.

btw, I live in Orange, which is decisively in Central OC.
