Breaking News! Angels Pitcher Nick Adenhart Killed in Hit And Run Collision

While all of the facts are still coming in, several news agencies are reporting that a fatal hit-and-run accident, that killed 2 people instantly, 1 later in the hospital and has one person still fighting for their life, has killed rookie Angel pitcher Nick Adenhart. Adenhart had just pitched in last night’s Angel game against the Oakland A’s.
Fullerton police state the accident occurred just after midnight at the intersection of Orangethorpe and Lemon in Fullerton. According to witnesses, a red minivan ran a red light, colliding with the gray Mitubishi Eclipse that was carrying Adenhart. Their car also collided with a third car. The driver of the minivan fled on foot, but was captured by Anaheim police a mile down the road. He was charged with felony hit-and-run and it is probable he will be charged with vehicular manslaughter. Police believe he was driving under the influence of alcohol.

As is typically the case with drunk driving incidents, the driver of the van had minor injuries. Luckily so did the driver of the third vehicle involved. Not so with Adenhart, the two others who were dead on scene and the third still fighting for their life.

The Angels play Oakland again tonight. It is expected there will be a tribute to the rookie pitcher.
**Update: Tonight’s game is canceled. The Angels will gather at the stadium tonight alone**
