It’s time for the Fair!

avo_01.gifJuly is upon us, which means hot weather, shark attacks (just you watch…) and the Orange County Fair. The fair’s website has ticket pricing and specials, schedules, entertainment listings (B-52s tonight!) and all sorts of other information.

Don’t forget that it’s the “year of the avocado”. If that doesn’t excite you, nothing will! I’m sure I’ll be attending at some point, maybe on a day that’s not the first or last of the fair. See you at the Fried Snickers Bar stand!

Okay, so I went to the fair Sunday, and it sucked! Well, it didn’t suck, however I was very dissapointed. The power was out for most of the day making it impossible to find food anywhere. The rides, of course, had their own power due to generators. But this was not the case for any of the food places or the chair lift thing, which people were stuck on for a lengthy time. Being disgusted in this loss of power made me decide to leave, only to find myself sitting in ‘parking lot’ traffic. My girlfriend and I sat in the line to get out of the parking lot for at least 30 minutes, not moving at all. My guess for that problem….. the 13 year old kids I saw everywhere directing traffic. Good Old Orange County Fair! I plan on going back. Hopefully they work out the opening weekend bugs.

The outage was the fault of the City of Costa Mesa, not the fair itself. Still, it doesn’t make for a fun day.

As I’ve gotten older (at the ripe ‘ol age of 27), I do my best to avoid the games and rides. I like the exhibits and animals and other “Fair” type stuff. It can be fun to walk through, but only for so long…
