O.C. Lush is open!

For all you Orange County Lushies – that’s what us Lush devotees are called – out there, the Anaheim GardenWalk store opened on Wednesday, February 18. All I can say is YAY! Unfortunately I was not able to be there on their first day of business in O.C., but fear not, I went today.

Lush, Anaheim GardenWalk

Lush, Anaheim GardenWalk

Did I tell you I LOVE this store? No, you didn’t get the memo? Here is is again: I LOVE THIS STORE!!!

As I might’ve mentioned, I love the store. However, I’m not in love with the location. It’s still far for me, but closer than Santa Monica. I live in South County and granted, I was on the 5 at 3:00 p.m. on a Friday so it took me 45 minutes to get there. I personally think it would do better at the Irvine Specturm Center or South Coast Plaza. I was shocked at how dead GardenWalk was on a Friday afternoon. I mean no one was there. No one.  Considering what a gorgeous day it was I thought more people would be out and about. The mall is less than 50% occupied. I stopped by the Spectrum on my way home and it was much busier. Regardless, Lush will definitely bring people to the GardenWalk.

According to the store manager, Brittany, they will be hosting their grand opening party on Saturday, March 21. She encourages everyone to sign-up for e-mail notifications or to watch the Lush Forum for information. Brittany said it will most likely be a R.S.V.P. event and will include a goodie bag.

Val007 made this post yesterday:

Give Blood, Beat L.A.!

Over on LA Metblogs, David Markland just put up a post that LA area public service agencies (police, fire and even FBI) are competing in their 3rd annual Battle of the Badges from January 20 – February 2.

“But Dave, what on earth does this have to do with Orange County???”

Well, as it turns out, Orange PD and Santa Ana Sheriff’s Dept. are participating too. So I say we show those LA folks we can rock it out down on this side of the curtain and kick their butt! For more information on the drive just click here.
In case you’re not convinced the Red Cross need your blood, think again. Less than 3% of our population donates blood. Not so good if you need an emergency transfusion. So do it.

If you require compensation for your blood, the Red Cross is giving out a FREE t-shirt and 2 free Clippers tix. (Orange is throwing in a gift certificate to Daphne’s Greek Restaurant too!)

It’s Freeeeeee! Inauguration Parties at Borders

This Saturday at 2pm, all Orange County Borders (indeed, I think all locations are doing this) will be holding a special party to celebrate our freedom from tyranny new president.

From the event site:

Celebrate America, democracy, and new beginnings at Borders with a very special Inauguration Party for kids! Bring the whole family for art activities, games, a scavenger hunt, and an official oath ceremony. Hail to the chief!

Huh, is Borders owned by a Democrat or are they just looking for some bodies in the stores? Either way, it might be fun for the kids. And of course, it’s freeeeee!

Freeeeeee Krispy Kreme!

Krispy Kreme announced today that they will be giving away ONE FREE DOUGHNUT of the customer’s choosing on Inauguration Day — “honoring American’s sense of pride and freedom of choice.” (BTW, shouldn’t that be Americans’ ?)

Sure, why not? So next Tuesday, January 20, be sure to express your sense of pride and freedom of choice by visiting your nearest Krispy Kreme(s) and ordering a totally free doughnut! This deal can only get better if someone decides to give away coffee again. I’ll be at The Block for my free doughnut — how convenient would it be if I could take a stroll around the mall and stop by some free coffee at, let’s say, Starbucks? (Nudge, nudge. Wink, wink.)

Freeeeeeee Santa!

Don't eat meee!

Don't eat meee!

Want to terrify your offspring this holiday season but don’t feel like shelling out $50 for the opportunity? Thanks to Claus for a Cause and Rascals to Rebels, just bring your camera and you can take HI-larious photos of your kids crying their little hearts out for FREE!

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be at the Rascals to Rebels shops in Seal Beach and Huntington Beach for a few more dates this month. I took my kid yesterday to Seal Beach, but they’ll be in HB tomorrow and on the 16th, and then back to Seal Beach on the 19th (all between 3 and 5 P.M.). Expect a little bit of a line; how fast it goes depends on the kids in front of you and how long their lists are. Our wait wasn’t that bad, even if we did have to go around a second time because I totally forgot to put the memory card in my camera the first time. They do have a professional photographer on hand in case you prefer to use her services. Kids also receive a small gift after the photo shoot; babies get small candy canes “for their memory books” (or “for mom’s necessary sugar fix”).

While the events are totally free, Santa and Mrs. Claus do accept donations, with every dollar received going toward the Breast Cancer Angels organization. So even if your kid goes totally ballistic on Santa’s lap, at least you can say that it was all for a good cause!
