Friends and Fireworks on the Fourth

Tonight being the Fourth of July, my favorite holiday of the year, I continued my yearly tradition and headed over to Peralta Park in Anaheim Hills. Somehow, as Anaheim Hills has grown, the Fourth of July has always been able to keep that small town feel to me. Over the past few years, with fewer and fewer friends in the area for the Fourth, that feeling has slowly begun to diminish. But I still run into friends and people I know, so it’s a fun time.

This year’s fireworks show wasn’t the best they have had, but they did a good job making up for it with the finale. It was probably the best finale I’ve ever seen in a fireworks display. However, as I said, the rest of the show was quite weak. There were too many fireworks that were low on the horizon, so they were hard to see between the people, buildings and trees. Also, the music arrangement wasn’t the best, it was a lot of songs I didn’t know, and distinctly missing was “I’m proud to be an American,” which I always love singing along with.

Not the best show ever, but they sure had one hell of an ending.
