Anybody Miss Me?

Sorry, I was out stretching my legs. No wait, scratch that. This is Orange County; we don’t walk from point A to point B. We drive from point A to point B.

That’s what I have had to do every morning for the past six weeks (and by now I’m surprised my car is still in one piece, considering its age).

However, the drive is not bad in the morning. I stay off the toll roads; yet, I still end up at the same point every morning. It is sort of a county secret that only the locals seem to know…

Sorry, it was too good to keep on the main page so here it is:

Santiago Canyon Road

This one road shoots right past Irvine Lake, through the remaining wide-open expanse of Silverado canyon and shoots out in South County. And the whole time the only money being spent is the fuel burning from your gas tank.

On the plus side, I just fire up the old iPod (hey, if you have a 3G iPod in this day-and-age that’s old), keep the pedal on the floor with one eye open for the fuzz, and the rest is smooth sailing towards the company parking lot.

Well, it was smooth sailing.

Damn, where am I going to park?

Five loops later, and I still don’t have a parking spot.

It’s like college all over again!

By the time I find a spot, I could have earned my Law Degree!

When I bought my condo, I purposely bought it very close to work (and close to my girlfriend’s work). She has the long drive in our household, at 2.5 miles. I’m at just under 1.5 miles, never any parking problems. It’s the way to go if you can swing it…
