Bad Advertising

Yesterday while waiting for the bus I noticed an ad for The Orange County Auto Show and that Sugar Ray is going to playing. I thought “wow, they haven’t played in a while, I haven’t seen them since they were known as “The Shrinky Dinx.” Then I noticed something that made me cringe. It wasn’t with the band or the event being advertised, it was the horrible graphics of the Bus Stop Advertisement.

If you look at the show’s website, it is real slick and all the graphics are tight. Nothing looks pixelated or out of the ordinary. Then comes the print ad. To me it is pretty bad. It reminds me of those rave fliers that looked good on a screen, but when they are printed, they just look off. No crisp edges, pixelated graphics. Lots of “cut and paste” look from the website. I don’t think the person in charge of this project knew the difference between web and print and the need for resolution.

One would think with backers like The Orange County Automobile Dealers Association, The Southland Motor Car Dealers Assosiation, produced by Motor Trend and sponsored by the Orange County Register they would have better quality control.
