Yay, it’s officially beach weather!

Hey all, hope you had the opportunity to do what the husband and I got to do today … go to the beach! I sincerely hope if you were not able to hit the beach that you spent the day outside, in some way. It was fantastic, crystal clear with a breeze. Well, it wasn’t perfect everywhere. On our way to Crystal Cove State Beach the temperature hit 99 degrees on Laguna Canyon Road, by the dog park. Seriously. However, once we pulled into the CC parking lot the temperature dropped 20 degrees. No kidding. Here’s my view. 1st-day-at-the-beach

With the temperatures more like July, the beach was packed with people as was PCH and Laguna Canyon Rd. Going home was pretty close to summer traffic levels. Even a little traffic couldn’t get us down today since there was a bottle of chilled Chardonnay and ceviche  awaiting us in the fridge upon our return home!

As the husband said “I give today a nine out of 10.” “Why not a 10 out of 10?” I asked. “Well, it was a little too breezy and the water was really cold*.” I’ll take a nine out of 10 pretty much anytime.

* I agree with all of you that are saying the water is always cold. I’m an East Coaster (actually, we both are) who is still used to those warm Atlantic waters, especially in late summer, thanks to the Gulf Stream.

I was in Long Beach all weekend for the Grand Prix, (which I’ll be posting about later this week *PLUG *PLUG!) and yesterday was by far the best day! Although all 3 days were just gorgeous! This is my favorite kind of weather. I’ll be hitting up a local beach tomorrow on my day off.

Where is the refreshment on a hot day if the water isn’t cold?

I don’t like bathwater temps for ocean water if it’s hot.

Oh don’t get me wrong. I’m all for a refreshing dip on a super hot day. I walked along the water for just a few minutes yesterday and my feet actually hurt ’cause the water was so cold. However, I am a bit of a wimp :)

I loves the water! You think the Pacific is cold here? you should try the beaches in Oregon. Frack!
